K&N FIPK Air Filter #57-1500
This
process is really very basic and I only included it in the Repair Center
for those who have not
purchased it and wish to see
the process and what it looks like. Normal cost for a K&N is around
$145.
This includes the FIPK Filter,
mounting horn, two brackets for mounting with long screws,
a filter recharger cleaning
kit and a band clamp for attaching the filter to the MAS (Mass Air Sensor)
assembly.
Remove the original air filter
by releasing the clamps on the four corners and removing the
screws on the filter side of
the MAS. Remove the screws on the bottom of the lower housing
using a #10 metric socket. You
can see the location of one hole below. The other two holes
are where the support brackets
are mounted that are included with the kit. They are shown
below with the brackets already
installed
Here is another view from the
side. The brackets mount to the back of the MAS where the
factory filter assembly previously
mounted and also to the fender where the original filter mounted.
They mount along with
the horn provided to attach the filter to the MAS and provide support.
This is all that is involved
in the installation aside from mounting the filter using the band clamp.
I preferred to hide the screw
for the clamp under the filter facing the rear of the car. It makes
it a little harder to tighten
it and remove it, but this does not happen often enough to bother me
and I liked the finished look
a lot better. The completed project is shown below.
Nuttin to it but to do it!
